I think that it is unlikely America would regain its position in these subjects, but it needs to. The reason for this is that most young people these days don't really seem to care about what is going to hapen in their future. The countries that will most likely gain the lead in these subjects will most likely be from Asia. I think we should regain our position because if we don't, America could lose its dominance in the world.
For the STEM competition, I have to write about the STEM-related discoveries or inventions I would like to either support or make in my lifetime. The invention or discovery I would like to support discovering a cure for AIDS. The reason for this is because AIDS causes many deaths worldwide each year, most of these people don't die from AIDS but the complications it causes. If a cure for AIDS was found, then many people would be saved each year.
I am now doing a blog about how has Globaloria inspired me to considering a STEM-related career. It has inspired me, but I was already thinking about those types of careers before I was in this class. For instance I was already considering a career in the Science aspect of STEM, a biologist or forensic Biologist.
Globaloria has not caused me to become more engaged. I am not saying Globaloria can't help students get engaged in classes, it is just that I am just to the point of Globaloria not being able to get me any more engaged. I am already a great student in classes like Biology and Algebra II, STEM related subjects, so I don't think I am able to get much more engaged than I right now.
If I had to choose a career in technology to pursue, I would be a game developer. I am inspired to become one by Square Enix and Game Freak. The developers of the companies have made games that have stood the test of time and push the genre of gaming with each new game they create. The success of these companies is what gave me the idea to make games that could potentially rival these companies. This job has to do with our game because our class introduces students to the concept of creating a game themselves.
Today, we finished the character effects for our game. Character effects involve changing the properties of an object. The character effects we made changes the color of an object as you scroll over buttons.

We finished the timer yesterday, but I had no time to start the blog. The timer counts down from ten seconds to zero, but a problem occurs that make the timer start counting down negative time.

I have just completed the score keeping section of the development topics. This topic involved changing the variables in Fly Catcher and Go Rabbit, Go! games. I also created a simple "game" that involves pushing a button to raise and lower your score.
Here is the link to the "game" I made:

The green button raises your score by one hundred but the red button lowers your score by seventy-five.
For the past few days we have been trying to add sound to our game and finally succeeded today. We used a volume slider to control the loudness of the volume and a play and stop button to make the music actually start and stop.
Here is the link to the volume slider: http://myglife.org/usa/wv/lhswiki/images/7/7c/Soundslider.swf
We started the preloader section of our game on the Monday of this week. At first we could not figure out how to make the preloader work, but Mrs. Halsey put a link to a tutorial on the main wiki page that helped us make the preloader. We then stated having trouble uploading it to the wiki. I asked Meredith and she told us to use an animation, which we have already done for two of our games.
Here is the link to the tutorials:

Yesterday, the class did the Programming Practices section of our game. We learned where to put the ActionScript in the game. We also edited the code fore the game Go Rabbit (right-click and select play, or else the game will not work.)
For those of you who read this blog I am planning to continue this blog during summer. I will be writing about the manga I am currently reading, the anime I am watching, and the Video games I will be playing. Since Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep is coming out this summer, and I finally have a PSP, I will most likely be writing about my play through of it. I might also start a New Game + or New Game ++ on Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII, so I will blog on that.
On the last day we were here we did the Intro to ActionScript. We tried to watch a video, but the words did not match the movement on the video. The scuba diving game did not work properly for a large portion of the class. I also liked making the Fly Catcher game easier. The last thing we did was finding a link to a website, but it linked to the wrong website called cafemom.com.
Yesterday, the class went over the development plan for the game my group is making. They told us things we were good at or things we should improve on. One thing they said we should improve on is the about screen. The class said we say why we made the game on this screen. They also said we should add more gambling facts.
We have made presentation on the parts of the game we have made so far. We did well on describing on how to play the game, but we needed to speak louder during the PowerPoint. In the final presentation we will all talk loudly and clearly. The best presentation was made by Masters of Disaster because they had the best looking game and the best issue for their game. Below is the video of our presentation.
My dream job is to be a forensic scientist. The requirements to be a forensic scientist is a bachelor's degree in chemistry, biology, physics, and other sciences. You may need these depending on what branch of forensics that you go in to: doctorate of philosophy, dental science training, or art classes. You may also need to be an intern for a little while. This class is not helping me prepare for this career, but I am taking it because I like video games.
